Part 7 — More Than Conquerors: Living Out Who You Are

Truth That Stays on the Page Changes Nothing

We have travelled a long way together in this series: born again and made new, accepted and righteous, seated and secure, empowered by the Spirit, bearing His fruit, and set as living members in the body of Christ under Him as Head. It is a glorious picture of who we are. But here is the sobering truth that ties it all together — none of it is meant to stay on the page. Identity that is known but never lived changes nothing at all. James says it as plainly as it can be said: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves [James 1:22 KJV]. Everything we have learned about who we are must now become how we live, or we deceive ourselves into mistaking information for transformation.

This is the very heart of going back to basics. The aim was never simply to make us better-informed believers, but to make us doers of the Word — people whose daily walk actually matches their identity in Christ.

More Than Conquerors — Through Him

So how do we live it out? Not by striving in our own strength, but by drawing on the victory that is already ours in Christ. The Christian walk is not a defeated trudge; it is a settled triumph. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us [Romans 8:37 KJV]. Notice both parts of that — the “more than” and the “through Him.” We are not merely survivors scraping through by the skin of our teeth; we are more than conquerors. And the source is not our grit or our willpower but the love of Christ at work in us. That is why the honest believer, weak in himself, can still say with quiet confidence: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me [Philippians 4:13 KJV]. The strength is His; we simply live in it.

But living out our identity does not mean life suddenly becomes easy. Precisely because we belong to Christ, there will be opposition. So we are told to prepare for it: be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil [Ephesians 6:10-11 KJV]. The enemy is real, and his methods are cunning, but the outcome of the battle is not in doubt for the believer who stands in God's strength rather than his own. And Scripture even gives us the order of the fight: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you [James 4:7 KJV]. Submission first, then resistance. We do not fight the enemy from a distance and in our own name; we fight him from a place of surrender to God — and from that place, he flees.

Walking Worthy — The Aim of It All

All seven parts of this journey have been quietly pointing to one destination — the theme verse that has run beneath the whole series: That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God [Colossians 1:10 KJV]. To “walk worthy” is not to earn our standing all over again. It is simply to live like who we already are: children of the Father, members of the body, temples of the Holy Spirit, and soldiers under Christ the Head. Our walk is meant to match our identity.

And that is where knowing who we are in Christ finally comes down to earth. It shows up in how you treat your family when you are tired, in whether you pray when no one is watching, in the way you serve your local church, and in how you stand when the pressure comes and the storms hit. It is lived out not in grand gestures but in a thousand ordinary, obedient steps. The believer who knows who he is, and walks accordingly, becomes exactly what this ministry exists to see: not a hearer only, but a doer of the Word.

This is who we are in Christ — and, by His grace, this is now who we get to be, day by day, in the ordinary and in the battle alike. Not hearers only. Doers. To the glory of God.

💡
Walk it out: Take the one truth from this whole series that struck you most deeply — and before the week is out, turn it into a single, concrete action. Do not merely believe who you are in Christ. Walk in it. Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only...

Key Takeaways:

  • Truth changes nothing until it is lived — be a doer, not a hearer only. [James 1:22 KJV]
  • In Christ you are more than a conqueror through His love, not your own grit. [Romans 8:37 KJV]
  • Stand in spiritual battle clothed in the whole armour of God. [Ephesians 6:11 KJV]
  • Submit to God first, then resist the devil, and he will flee. [James 4:7 KJV]
  • The aim of it all is to walk worthy of the Lord in everyday life. [Colossians 1:10 KJV]

Where to go from here:

If this has found you knowing more than you are living, do not leave it at agreement. Take your Bible and read [Romans 8:31-39 KJV] slowly, then [Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV], and ask the Lord one honest question: which truth about who I am am I not yet walking in? Then turn the answer into one concrete action before the week is out.

Reading the seven once tells you who you are. Walking through them again starts to change how you live. That is how truth moves from the head to the hands — and it is how hearers become doers.

Then walk the week with us — Monday to Thursday we take one truth and look at it from four sides. Fridays, we work through a series. One email on Sunday closes the week and opens the next 👉https://www.youtube.com/@backtobasicschristianliving
