Week 19

Week 19

Your Weekly Round-up Sunday!

Welcome back to Week 19 — grab a brew, settle in, and let's walk through what's coming…

If last week stretched you, good — the Christian life was never meant to be lived on cruise control. So before Monday hits and the world starts shouting, take ten quiet minutes here. Get the lay of the land. Know what's coming. Decide now where you'll meet the Lord this week, because believers who plan to walk with God walk further than those who hope to.

This week we're covering big ground. We start by settling the question of identity in Who Am I?, then turn the mirror inward with How Important is God to You, & How Important Are You to God? Wednesday brings the wake-up call — Are You Ready? — and Thursday answers the ache of weary saints with The Strength Within! Friday lands the next Back to Basics teaching, How to Belong to the Church So You Actually Grow.

There's more on the table too: a fresh teaching on Under-Shepherding: Feed Them, Guard Them, Care for Them!, news from the channel about our new Back to Basics: Plain Truth! playlist, the podcasts, the shorts, and every YouTube playlist linked up for you in one place.

One theme runs through it all: the Word, the Walk & the War. Feed on Scripture. Walk in obedience. Stand in the fight. That's the rhythm of the Christian life — and that's the heartbeat of this ministry.

Pull up a chair. Open your Bible. Let's get into it…

Building Your Faith on Biblical Foundations! Discover core Christian principles and deepen your relationship with Christ through biblical teaching and practical application…

The Word, the Walk & the War!

The three legs every Christian stands on — lose one and the whole thing wobbles…

The Christian life stands on three legs: the Word that feeds you, the Walk that proves you, and the War that tests you. Hold all three together in Christ and you will stand — through every season, every storm, and every snare the enemy can set.

The Word comes first because nothing comes before it. Scripture is not a side dish to the Christian life — it is the bread on the table, the lamp at our feet, and the sword in our hand. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness [2 Timothy 3:16 KJV]. Without it we drift. With it we are anchored. The believer who knows the Word is the believer who knows their God, knows their gospel, and knows their ground. Read it daily. Read it slowly. Read it small if you must — but read it to obey, not just to underline.

The Walk follows the Word, because doctrine that does not change the way you live is doctrine you have not really believed. Paul prayed that we might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work [Colossians 1:10 KJV]. John puts it plainly — He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked [1 John 2:6 KJV]. The Christian walk is not a sprint, not a stroll, and not a Sunday-only stride. It is daily, faithful, plain-footed obedience — at home, at work, in the supermarket, in the small unseen choices nobody else will ever notice. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves [James 1:22 KJV].

Then comes the War — and make no mistake, there is one. Every believer who reads the Word and walks with Christ will feel the push-back of an enemy who hates both. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places [Ephesians 6:12 KJV]. The fight is real, but the victory is settled. Christ has already overcome [John 16:33 KJV], and our weapons are not made of flesh — the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds [2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV]. Stand in the armour. Pray without ceasing. Resist the devil, and he will flee.

The Word feeds. The Walk proves. The War tests. And under all three, the same Lord holds you up — I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee [Hebrews 13:5 KJV]. That is why we keep coming back to basics: a Christian who is full of the Word, faithful in the Walk, and ready for the War is a Christian the enemy cannot shift and the world cannot silence.

This week: open the Word to obey, not just to read. One verse. One step. One battle won…

Who Am I?

Stop letting the world name you. Let the Word settle it…

Who you are in Christ, & why your past no longer gets to name you

Who Am I? is a straight-talking, KJV-grounded teaching that cuts through the noise and settles the identity question at the root: not by feelings, not by labels, and not by the past, but by what God has said. It walks you from creation to eternity, then brings you right into the new birth, showing what it really means to be in Christ as a new creature, a child of God, and a redeemed life that belongs to the Lord. If you have been carrying shame, insecurity, or an “old name-tag” from your former life, this message will help you renew your mind, stand your ground in the battle, and live from who you are in Christ, not who you used to be…

How Important is God to You, & How Important Are You to God?

Discovering the depth of God's love for you, & responding with wholehearted devotion….

A Love That Transforms

Two piercing questions cut through every excuse for half-hearted Christianity: How important is God to you — and how important are you to Him? The blog examines the call to love God with all our being [Matthew 22:37 KJV], warns that lukewarm devotion makes Christ sick [Revelation 3:15-16 KJV], and then turns the mirror around. Friend, you are of infinite worth to God. He proved it not with silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ [1 Peter 1:18-19 KJV]. Before you ever sought Him, whilst you were still a sinner, He died for you [Romans 5:8 KJV] — and nothing in life or death can ever separate you from that love [Romans 8:38-39 KJV]. The challenge is not to try harder, but to respond to love already given. Be a doer of the Word, not a hearer only [James 1:22 KJV], and surrender your whole life to Christ — today…

Are You Ready?

This is a wake-up call, not a scare tactic. The question is not whether the world is ready. The question is whether we are ready…

When Heaven asks the question

Are You Ready? is a wake-up call, not a scare tactic.

In this teaching blog, we look at what the Bible really means by readiness for the Lord’s coming, and why the greatest danger is not only sin, but spiritual sleep. With clear KJV Scripture and practical application, this message calls believers back to a living relationship with Christ, daily obedience, and “oil in the lamp” that cannot be borrowed at the last minute.

If you feel dulled by distraction, weighed down by the cares of life, or in need of a spiritual reset, this is for you.

Readiness is not a countdown clock. It is a consecrated life…

The Strength Within!

When your strength runs out, God’s strength within carries you on…

Finding the strength to carry on…

When life gets heavy and your own strength runs out, the Christian is not left stranded. God has placed His Spirit within every believer as a well of strength that is renewed every morning, released as we wait on Him, and perfected in our weakness. The strength to carry on is not something you have to manufacture — it is Someone you have to lean on. Draw on Him daily through the Word, prayer, worship, obedience, and fellowship, and you will find that the strength within always outlasts the pressure without…

And let that settle in. The same God who began the work in you is the One who keeps it going — “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” [Philippians 1:6 KJV] You will get tired. The road will lengthen. The pressure will press. But Heaven’s supply does not run dry — “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” [Isaiah 40:29 KJV]

So when the next wave hits, don’t measure what you have left — measure what He has stored up in you. The Christian’s strength was never meant to come from reserves. It was always meant to come from a Source. “…they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” [Isaiah 40:31 KJV]

How to Belong to the Church So You Actually Grow (Teaching 4)

Moving from attending on Sunday to belonging in the body…

A natural next step from Teaching 3

Christianity was never meant to be lived alone. The church is the body Christ died for, and we grow as we belong to her — gathering, listening, obeying, serving, and loving. Many believers love Jesus, read their Bible, and pray, yet quietly drift on their own and wonder why their walk feels stuck. The missing piece isn't more effort — it's commitment. Settle the question of where you belong. Get close enough to be known. Sit under godly leadership. Put your gifts to work. Don't aim for impressive — aim for faithful. That's how church becomes family instead of formality, and that's how you actually grow…

From the editor's desk: A quick word about something new on our YouTube channel this week — a fresh home for the teachings that don't fit the weekly slot. Have a read below, then have a look for yourself…

📺 New on the Channel: Introducing the Back to Basics Playlist

Back to Basics: Plain Truth!

A new home on YouTube for the teachings that don't fit the weekly slot.

Most of what we put out at Back to Basics: Christian Living runs on rails.

Monday brings Something to Think About. Tuesdays and Thursdays carry Messages from the Outpost. Wednesday is Write This Down. Friday is the main Back to Basics: Christian Living teaching. Saturday brings Christian Compass, and Sunday wraps it all up with the Round-up.

It's a steady weekly rhythm — and we love it that way. But every now and again, the Lord drops something on the heart that won't fit any of those slots.

A verse that won't leave us alone. A question that needs answering plainly. A stirring that needs saying now, not next week. And that's exactly what this new playlist is for.

What is the Back to Basics: Plain Truth! playlist?

Back to Basics is the new home on our YouTube channel for the unscheduled, Spirit-prompted teaching videos — the ones that sit outside our usual weekly line-up. You'll find a mix in there:

A glimpse of what's inside: • Short reflections that hit a single point hard • Longer teachings that need room to breathe • Encouragements when the body of Christ needs strengthening • Sharper words when something needs saying straight

No fixed format. No fixed length. No tidy schedule. Just plain, practical, powerful teaching from the King James Bible — opened, explained, and applied.

Why we're doing it

Because the Christian life is not lived on a timetable.

The Word does not always come in neat weekly portions. Sometimes the Lord lays something on a teacher's heart in the middle of the week and it has to be said now, not slotted in three weeks later when the calendar allows. This playlist gives those moments somewhere to live.

It also gives you somewhere to find them. Instead of wondering where the off-schedule teaching went, it's all kept together in one place — easy to find, easy to share, easy to come back to. And the heartbeat is the same as everything else we do here:

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves [James 1:22 KJV].

We're not building a library of religious information. We're trying to help every viewer move one step further in obedience — comfort where you need it, conviction where you need it, and a clear next step where the Spirit is pressing.

What you can do today

Three simple steps:Head over to the channel and have a look at the new Back to Basics: Plain Truth! playlist • Subscribe if you haven't already, so you catch each new off-schedule teaching as it lands • Share any video the Lord uses with someone who needs it — that's how this ministry grows

Under-Shepherding: Feed Them, Guard Them, Care for Them!

Every flock has a Chief Shepherd. The rest of us serve under Him…

There is only one Good Shepherd, and He laid down His life for the sheep — I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep [John 10:11 KJV]. Everyone else who leads, teaches, or cares for God's people is an under-shepherd. We do not own the flock. We do not name the flock. We answer to the One who bought them with His own blood — Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock… to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood [Acts 20:28 KJV].

Peter spells the work out plainly: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof… And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away [1 Peter 5:2-4 KJV]. Three duties sit at the heart of it. Feed them. Guard them. Care for them.

Sheep do not feed themselves, and neither do God's people. They need the Word — opened, explained, and applied. Not opinions. Not anecdotes dressed up as Scripture. The bread on the table must be the Bible, plainly taught, so the flock can grow — As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby [1 Peter 2:2 KJV]. If you teach, study before you speak. If you lead a small group, prepare. If you disciple one young believer, give them Scripture, not slogans.

A shepherd watches the gate. Wolves are real, and they wear soft clothes — Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing [Matthew 7:15 KJV]. Guarding means correcting error gently but firmly, warning against doctrines that flatter the flesh, and refusing to let drift go unchallenged. Paul wept night and day doing this work [Acts 20:31 KJV]. We will too. Love that will not guard is not love — it is laziness.

The flock is not a project. They are people. Know thou well the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds [Proverbs 27:23 KJV]. Know names. Know struggles. Pray by name. Visit the lonely. Strengthen the weak. Bind up the broken. Ezekiel's rebuke still cuts — the bad shepherds fed themselves and let the sheep scatter [Ezekiel 34:2-5 KJV]. Do not be that. Be the kind of under-shepherd whose presence steadies people because Christ is steadying you.

Under-shepherding is not a title. It is a daily, costly, joyful obedience. Feed them with the Word. Guard them from error. Care for them as Christ cares for you. And remember — the Chief Shepherd is coming, and His reward outlasts every weary day [1 Peter 5:4 KJV].

Pick one sheep this week — one person God has placed near you — and do all three: feed them a passage, guard them with a true word, and care for them by name in prayer…

With Christ's love,

Dave & Elaine
