Welcome back. After a short break the work starts up again this week — and here it all is in one place.
One subject sits over the whole week: the Church. Not the building, not the programme, not the platform — but the body of Christ, measured by the Word of God rather than by how it looks on a Sunday morning.
Day by day — on Tuesday, why the church has no voice of its own and must speak the Word or say nothing worth hearing; on Wednesday, how to run a church God's way instead of ours; on Thursday, the plain warning that churches built on anything but Christ will fall; and on Friday, Part 8 of Christian Manhood — the man who stands, and the close of the series.
It's a shorter week: Tuesday to Friday, with no Mission this time. The News below explains why, along with what starts the Friday after and what we've carried on over on X.
And to bookend it, two bonus teachings you'll only find here. Find Your Place in the Body — No Member Is Spare!
Every believer is set in the body by God Himself — so nobody is spare…
There's a quiet lie doing the rounds in the body of Christ, and it sounds so humble that nobody challenges it: "They don't really need me." It empties prayer meetings, rotas and quiet acts of service faster than any false teacher ever managed.
Scripture answers it in one line: But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him [1 Corinthians 12:18 KJV].
Read it slowly. God set them. Not a committee. Not the person holding the microphone. Not how confident you feel on a bad week. If you are born again, you were placed — deliberately, and to His pleasure. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular [1 Corinthians 12:27 KJV]. Members in particular — not spare parts in a drawer marked "one day."
Paul named our excuse before we could use it: If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? [1 Corinthians 12:15 KJV] The foot is not failing by being a foot. It fails the moment it measures itself against the hand. We compare, we come up short, we withdraw — and we call it modesty. Comparison is not humility. Humility takes the place God gave and fills it.
And God rates the quiet ones higher than we do: those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary [1 Corinthians 12:22 KJV]. Necessary. Not tolerated. Necessary.
Nothing in a body is decorative. What the Spirit works in you was never meant to stay with you — But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal [1 Corinthians 12:7 KJV] — and the church grows only by that which every joint supplieth [Ephesians 4:16 KJV]. Every joint. Not every preacher. The one praying at six in the morning. The one who texts the widow on a Tuesday. The one stacking chairs while everybody else drinks tea. When a joint stops supplying, the body doesn't collapse; it limps. Most churches limping today are not short of talent — they're short of members who know they are members.
So how do you find your place? You don't need a vision in the night. You need honesty, availability, and a bit of plain obedience.
Three steps to take this week:
• Ask what needs doing, not what suits you — the need in front of you is usually the door in front of you.
• Start where you already are: your church, your street, your family, your work.
• Ask two mature believers what they see in you — others often spot the joint before you feel it.
Paul's prayer was never that believers would be noticed, but that they would be fruitful: That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work [Colossians 1:10 KJV]. So stop waiting for a platform and start supplying a body. And hearing this changes nothing on its own: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only [James 1:22 KJV]. Your step this week — find one need in your church that nobody is covering, and cover it quietly, without being asked, for the next month.
God has already set you in the body. The only question left is whether you will take your place in it…

The church has no voice of its own — when it speaks, it must speak the Word of God, or it has nothing worth saying. We are messengers, not authors, preaching Christ and not ourselves. God's Word is living and powerful where our cleverness is not; faith comes by hearing it, not by human persuasion. We must not add to it or take from it, but preach it in season and out, refusing to chase itching ears. And the voice is proved by the walk — a church that both says and does what God says still has the power to change everything…

A church is not ours to invent or run like a business — it belongs to Christ, who builds it and heads it. We run it well by building on the Word, leading as shepherds who feed and serve, putting every member to work, and staying steadfast in doctrine, fellowship, communion and prayer. Keep order and love together, keep the church on its knees, and aim at maturity rather than mere numbers. Do it God's way and the church will do God's work — walking worthy of the Lord and fruitful in every good work…

A church built on anything other than Christ and His Word — celebrity leaders, entertainment-driven services, selective preaching, false doctrine, or a compromised Bible — is built on sand, and when the storms come it will fall. The only sure foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ and the whole counsel of God, preached without apology. Leaders must decrease so Christ may increase, worship must serve the Word, and doctrine must be tested by Scripture, not popularity. Build on the Rock and stand; build on sand and fall — there is no middle ground…

The closing word of Christian manhood is not win, not advance, not conquer — it is stand. A Christian man stands in the strength of the Lord, not his own. He puts on the whole armour of God daily: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer — not for occasional battles, but for the long, daily standing of a Christian life. The danger is not only falling but fading; the Spirit's word to weary men is, be not weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong is the Christian man's manifesto. You don't have to win every battle today — you just have to stand. And the Lord who keeps you from falling will, in the end, give the crown of life to the man who was faithful unto death…

We're Back!
After a short break, we're back — and it's good to be back.
We didn't stop because the work stopped mattering. We stopped because even the Lord told His own men to come away and rest a while — Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while [Mark 6:31 KJV]. Rest isn't laziness. It's how you last. A tired man teaches tired. A rested one still has something left to give.
This week runs a little shorter: teachings on Tuesday to Friday only, and no Mission section this week. From the following Saturday everything returns to normal — Christian Compass, Round-up Sunday, the daily teachings, the matching videos, and the weekly Mission.
Nothing has changed while we've been away. Same Book, same basics, same plain teaching, same aim — to get the Word off the page and into your week.
Thank you to everyone who kept reading, watching and sharing while we were away — and to those who dropped us a message to say they were praying for us. It meant more than you know.

Finishing What We Started: Christian Manhood — Part 8
We left one job undone.
Before the break we were working our way through the Christian Manhood series, and we got to within one part of the end — seven down, one to go. Then we stopped to rest. Some of you noticed, and a few of you asked when the last one was coming.
It's coming this Friday 04/09/26
Part 8 — The Man Who Stands — brings the series to its close, and it's the part everything else has been building towards. A man can know what godly manhood looks like. He can agree with every word of it. The test comes when the pressure lands and he's still there, feet planted on the Word, not moving. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong [1 Corinthians 16:13 KJV]. That's the finish line of the whole series — not a man who talks well, but a man who stands.
If you've followed it from Part 1, this is the one that ties it all together. If you've never read a word of it, Friday still stands on its own — you won't need the other seven to get the good out of it.
And then something new. Coming the following Friday 11/09/26, a brand new series: Who We Are in Christ. Christian Manhood dealt with how a man walks. This one goes further back — to who you already are in Christ, what God has made you, what belongs to you, and what changes the day you start believing it.
So Friday we finish. Then we start again…
Carrying On: The Story Behind Each Day's Teaching — on X
Just before we took our short break, we started something new over on X. Every time a teaching blog went out, we posted alongside it to explain why we'd published that teaching on that day — what was on our heart, what prompted it, and what we hoped it would do in whoever read it.
The thinking was simple. A teaching often lands deeper when you know why it was written in the first place.

The Lost Generation!
How a whole crowd can carry the name of Christ, sit in church, and still be strangers to God…
There's a generation walking among us today that believes it's born again — and isn't. They carry the name. They sing the songs, own a Bible, and can hold a decent conversation about God. But somewhere along the way they were handed religion without a rebirth — a decision without the Spirit. And here's the tragedy: most of them have no idea. They think they're in. They are, in truth, still out.
Jesus left it in no doubt. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again [John 3:7 KJV]. Not reformed. Not improved. Not merely religious. Born again.
Here's where the confusion sits. Many think the new birth is a decision they once made — a hand raised, a prayer repeated in a meeting. But it isn't the raising of a hand; it's the receiving of the Holy Spirit. Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God [John 3:5 KJV]. And the line is plain: Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his [Romans 8:9 KJV]. None of His. Attend every service, give every offering, sing every hymn by heart — if the Holy Spirit hasn't come to live in you, you have religion without regeneration.
And this is one of the quiet reasons churches fall. A building can be full of people who were told they were saved when heaven had never sealed them — busy, sincere, well behaved, and unregenerate. No programme can carry that. Only the new birth can.
The whole point of the gospel is reconciliation — And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ [2 Corinthians 5:18 KJV]. And the proof isn't the label we wear but the life we carry: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God [Romans 8:16 KJV]. If that witness has never come, the relationship has never begun.
It shows up in prayer. Prayer is the privilege of a son, and multitudes who pray have never become sons — For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God [Romans 8:14 KJV]. It's that same Spirit that gives us our voice with the Father: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father [Galatians 4:6 KJV]. Where He has never come, that cry has never been given.
And read slowly what Jesus said would happen at the end: And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me [Matthew 7:22-23 KJV]. Busy for God, loud for God — and never once known by God. That's the lost generation: not the openly rebellious, but the religiously deceived. And because they're so sure of themselves, few ever stop to check.
So nobody should hear this and rush off to try harder. Salvation was never a wage — Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration [Titus 3:5 KJV]. Our part isn't to manufacture it but to receive it — to come empty, come honest, and ask.
Here's your step this week, and it's honesty rather than panic: Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves [2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV]. Not "Do I go to church?" but "Has the Holy Spirit come to live in me?" Not "Am I religious?" but "Am I reconciled?" And if the honest answer is "I'm not sure," that isn't a sentence — it's an invitation. Come to God through Jesus Christ, confess that you've leaned on religion instead of the Redeemer, and ask Him for the Spirit He delights to give.
Don't be part of the lost generation. Be part of the found — born again, sealed by the Spirit, reconciled to the Father, and walking worthy of the Lord…
