Why Doesn't God Answer My Prayers?

When Heaven Seems Silent

You have prayed. Perhaps you prayed for weeks. You meant every word — and still nothing seems to have moved. The bill is still there. The illness has not lifted. The person you love is no nearer the Lord. And a quiet, uncomfortable question begins to form: is God even listening?

Waiting is not the same as being refused. Some of the deepest work God ever does in us happens in the delay. Abraham waited years for a promised son. The disciples waited in the upper room. Waiting teaches us to trust the Giver and not merely chase the gift.

And here is the comfort: a delay is not a door slammed shut. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work [Colossians 1:10 KJV] — and fruit grows slowly, in seasons, under God's timing and not ours. If you are still waiting, you are not being ignored. You are being grown.

Praying The Prayer God Loves To Answer

So how do we pray when heaven seems silent? We come back to that one phrase — according to his will [1 John 5:14 KJV]. The prayer God most delights to answer is the prayer that wants what He wants. That is not resignation; it is trust. It is Gethsemane — not my will, but thine, be done [Luke 22:42 KJV].

That changes how we pray. We stop hurling demands and start seeking His face. We ask boldly — but we hold the outcome with an open hand. And we keep asking, because the Lord told us to keep on knocking. Persistent prayer is not nagging a reluctant God; it is a child staying close to a Father who is working things we cannot yet see.
