Welcome back to The Christian Compass — your Saturday round-up of everything we've taught this week, all in one place.

How to Be Born Again?
The most important question you will ever answer — and the plainest answer in all of Scripture…
Of all the questions a person can ask, none matters more than this one: how can I be born again? Get this right, and everything else in life falls into its proper place. Get it wrong, and it will not matter much what else you got right.
The good news is that God has not hidden the answer. He has written it down plainly, so that ordinary people can read it, believe it, and know they belong to Him. Salvation was never meant to be a mystery for the clever few. It is a gift, received by faith, set out in black and white in the Word of God.
Start where the Bible starts — with the truth about us. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God [Romans 3:23 KJV]. That means every one of us. Not just the obvious sinner down the road, but you and me. And sin is not a small debt God simply overlooks. For the wages of sin is death [Romans 6:23 KJV] — separation from a holy God, now and forever.
But read on, because that same verse turns the corner: …but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord [Romans 6:23 KJV]. There it is. A gift. Not wages you earn, not a wage you work for — a gift you receive. And a gift only becomes yours when you take God at His Word and believe it.
This is where so many stumble. They try to feel born again, or work their way to it, or clean themselves up first. But Scripture never sends us to our feelings or our efforts. It sends us to Christ. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life [John 3:16 KJV]. Do you see the word? Believeth. Not "tries harder." Not "does better." Believes.
Jesus said it plainly to Nicodemus: Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God [John 3:3 KJV]. The new birth is God's work, not ours — but it is received through faith. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name [John 1:12 KJV].
So how are you born again? You hear what God has said, and you believe it — That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved [Romans 10:9 KJV]. Believe that Christ died for your sins, that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day; confess Him as Lord, and stop trusting yourself to start trusting Him alone. It has never been by works — For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God [Ephesians 2:8 KJV].
And you can know it is done — not by how you feel, but by what God has promised: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life [1 John 5:13 KJV].
Not hope so. Not think so. Know so. That is the plainest answer in all of Scripture. Believe it — and live…

The kindest thing we can do for the living is tell them the truth about Christ while there's still time — and make sure of our own salvation today…

The natural man has little to say beyond self, money and the world, because without the Spirit he cannot grasp the deeper things of God. Our words reveal what fills the heart, and an empty heart draws only from shallow wells — which is why so much talk leaves us flat. We were made for eternity, so nothing less will satisfy. The believer, given a new nature and higher affections, has something real to say. But the answer to boredom is not pride; it is compassion — to see the empty talker as a hungry soul, season our speech with grace, and turn the conversation, kindly, toward the One who truly satisfies…

Take the Word Into Your Week
Reading the Word does us little good until we do it — But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves [James 1:22 KJV]. Here are five simple challenges, one for each day's teaching, to carry this week's truth off the page and into your walk.
Your Five Daily Challenges:
- Monday — Make Sure, Then Speak Up: Settle your own salvation before God today, then tell one person plainly about the Lord Jesus Christ while there's still time.
- Tuesday — One Conversation: Take one shallow, self-and-world conversation and gently turn it towards Christ — seeing the empty talker not as a bore, but as a hungry soul.
- Wednesday — Obey Before You Understand: Name one thing God has been asking of you that you've been resisting, and take the first step of obedience even though you can't yet see the whole picture.
- Thursday — Build, Don't Just Break: For every fault you spot this week, set one plain truth from God's Word beside it — point people to Christ, not to yourself.
- Friday — Set Your Prayer Anchors: Fix two set times to pray each day this week — morning and evening — and keep the line open in between. When you fall out of it, come straight back.
Don't try to carry all five at once — pick the one that pricks your heart most and start there today. Small steps of obedience, taken daily, are what build the unshakeable foundation Christ spoke of — whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them [Matthew 7:24 KJV].

God Wants Every Christian to Grow into Maturity!
God's aim is a settled, steadfast faith…
The Christian life was never meant to stand still. From the moment we trust Christ, God sets us on a road — and that road always runs upward, towards maturity. He is not content to leave us as we were. His aim for every believer is a settled, steadfast faith that grows deeper with the years.
Yet many Christians stall. They come to Christ, and then they park. Years pass, but the faith looks much the same at forty as it did at four weeks old. That is not God's plan. Peter's charge is plain: But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ [2 Peter 3:18 KJV]. Growth is not an extra for the keen few. It is the normal, expected mark of a living faith.
Scripture is honest about the danger of standing still. The writer to the Hebrews had to rebuke believers who should have been teaching others, yet were still on the bottle: For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat [Hebrews 5:12 KJV]. There is nothing wrong with milk for a new born. There is everything wrong with a grown believer who never moves on to meat.
Why does it matter so much? Because maturity is what keeps you standing. The immature believer is easily blown about — no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive [Ephesians 4:14 KJV]. In a day of false teaching, shallow roots are dangerous. Depth is what steadies you when the winds blow. The one who has grown can tell the true from the false, because his senses have been trained — strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil [Hebrews 5:14 KJV].
So how do we grow? Not by chasing new experiences, but by feeding on the Word. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness [2 Timothy 3:16 KJV]. That is the food that builds strong Christians. And we were never meant to grow alone. God gave the church for this very purpose — for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ [Ephesians 4:12 KJV]. Iron sharpens iron; we grow shoulder to shoulder, not in isolation.
Here is the great comfort in it all. The God who began the work has promised to finish it: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you [1 Peter 5:10 KJV]. Perfect. Stablish. Strengthen. Settle. That is His aim for you — so give yourself to it, and grow…
