The Unknown Road!

Trusting God When the Path Ahead Is Unclear…

Life often presents us with paths we've never travelled before. As Christians, we frequently find ourselves standing at crossroads, gazing down unfamiliar roads with uncertainty in our hearts. The unknown road—whether it's a career change, a health challenge, a relationship transition, or a spiritual calling—can fill us with both anticipation and apprehension.

Scripture reminds us that walking by faith often means travelling roads whose destinations aren't immediately visible to us. As Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) instructs, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." The unknown road becomes the very place where our faith is exercised and strengthened.

The children of Israel faced an unknown road when they stood at the edge of the Red Sea with Pharaoh's army in pursuit. They couldn't see how their journey would continue, yet Moses declared, "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD" (Exodus 14:13 KJV). What followed was one of the most miraculous divine interventions in biblical history—a road through the sea itself.

Abraham's journey offers perhaps the most profound example of travelling an unknown road. "By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went" (Hebrews 11:8 KJV). Without GPS coordinates or a detailed itinerary, Abraham simply followed God's voice into unfamiliar territory.

What makes the unknown road particularly challenging is our human desire for certainty and control. We want assurances before we step out. Yet Isaiah reminds us, "I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them" (Isaiah 42:16 KJV).

The Apostle Paul understood that his ministry would lead him down unknown roads: "And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there" (Acts 20:22 KJV). This uncertainty didn't paralyse him; rather, it deepened his dependence on God.

When we find ourselves on unknown roads, several biblical principles can guide us:

  1. Follow God's light one step at a time. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105 KJV). God's Word may not illuminate the entire journey, but it provides enough light for the next step.
  2. Remember God's faithfulness in past journeys. "Thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation" (Psalm 27:9 KJV).
  3. Embrace divine companionship on the journey. "And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20 KJV).

The unknown road need not be feared when we know the One who walks beside us. Though we cannot see around every bend, we can trust the One who has already gone before us, preparing the way and promising to guide our steps.

As we journey forward in faith, may we embrace the adventure of the unknown road, knowing that it leads us deeper into God's purposes and closer to His heart…

One Another: The Tapestry of Christian Fellowship!

Bear one another's burdens, provoke one another to love: fulfilling Christ's law through community…

Living Out the "One Another" Commands

The "one another" commandments in Scripture weave a beautiful tapestry of Christian fellowship, revealing God's design for His church as an interdependent family rather than isolated believers. Beginning with Jesus's foundational command to "love one another," these directives form the blueprint for authentic Christian community—one that transformed the ancient world and can revolutionise our churches today. This mutual love manifests through honour and submission, as we value others above ourselves in a countercultural posture of service. When challenges arise, we bear one another's burdens and extend the same forgiveness Christ has shown us. Through edification and encouragement, our gifts complement one another's weaknesses, creating a nurturing environment where faith flourishes. Practical hospitality and harmonious living establish daily rhythms of connection, whilst our unity offers powerful witness to a fragmented world. These "one another" principles challenge our contemporary tendency toward consumer Christianity, calling us back to the messy, beautiful work of embodied community that reflects Christ's transforming power…

The Unseen Battle: Navigating the Spiritual Realm as Believers!

Understanding the spiritual forces that shape our world...

Spiritual Discernment in a Secular World!

In today's increasingly secular world, many Christians overlook the profound reality of spiritual warfare taking place around us. "The Unseen Battle: Navigating the Spiritual Realm as Believers" explores the biblical truth that beyond our visible reality exists a spiritual dimension where forces of good and evil wage continuous warfare. This teaching examines how this unseen realm impacts our daily lives, providing insights into the nature of angels as God's messengers and protectors, while also addressing the reality of demonic opposition. Drawing from Scripture, we explore Christ's definitive victory over spiritual darkness and how believers can stand firm through vigilance, spiritual armour, and exercising our God-given authority. Rather than approaching spiritual warfare from fear, this teaching reminds us that we fight not for victory but from victory—equipped with the knowledge that "greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." Discover how understanding this cosmic conflict transforms your approach to Christian living and empowers you to walk confidently in faith…

Balancing Faith & Works: Our Role in God's Kingdom…

Are we called to performance or simply to receive eternal life? Understanding God's design for active faith...

The question of performance versus passive acceptance in Christian life strikes at the heart of a fundamental theological tension. Scripture reveals that while salvation is God's free gift, authentic faith inevitably produces spiritual fruit through active service.

The Apostle Paul addresses this directly in his letters to the Corinthians. He describes the church as Christ's body with each member having specific functions: "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues" (1 Corinthians 12:27-28 KJV). This clearly establishes that believers are designed to fulfil specific roles within Christ's body.

Yet Paul balances this with the primacy of grace: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV). Salvation comes not through our performance but through Christ's finished work.

However, Paul continues with a crucial statement often overlooked: "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10 KJV). This reveals God's intention that salvation leads to divinely ordained service.

James provides further clarity: "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone... I will shew thee my faith by my works" (James 2:17-18 KJV). Genuine faith naturally manifests in godly action.

The issue isn't whether we should "perform" but understanding the proper relationship between faith and works. We aren't saved by performance, but saving faith inevitably produces spiritual fruit. As Jesus taught, "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit" (John 15:5 KJV).

Paul's teaching about spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12-14 KJV demonstrates that God equips each believer uniquely for service. These gifts aren't optional extras but essential aspects of our spiritual identity: "But all these worketh that one and the self same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will" (1 Corinthians 12:11 KJV).

When we understand our role in Christ's body, service becomes not burdensome performance but joyful expression of our new nature. Paul exemplifies this attitude: "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21 KJV).

The biblical balance is clear: We receive eternal life as a gift through faith alone, but genuine faith inevitably manifests in active service according to our God-given gifts. Our works don't earn salvation but demonstrate its reality in our lives.

As Christ taught in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30 KJV), we are entrusted with gifts to be used faithfully, not hidden away. Therefore, we aren't called to anxious performance to earn God's favour, but to faithful stewardship flowing from grateful hearts already secure in His love.

Biblical faith isn't passive acceptance but active trust that works through love (Galatians 5:6 KJV). We serve not to become children of God, but because we already are His children, empowered by His Spirit for the works He prepared beforehand…

Back to Basics: Christian Living - Your Faith Journey. We're excited to share insights and practical guidance to help strengthen your faith journey in 2025…

The Path to Confusion!

When Knowledge Eclipses Obedience…

In today's Christian landscape, we're witnessing a troubling trend: the rise of "intellectual Christianity" where theological knowledge takes precedence over practical obedience. Many believers have become so engrossed in doctrinal debates and theological nuances that they've lost sight of the simplicity at the heart of our faith.

The Apostle Paul warned about this very issue: "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV). This warning resonates today as many Christians become "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7 KJV).

The fundamental problem isn't the pursuit of knowledge itself, but knowledge divorced from obedience. Jesus made this clear: "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father" (Matthew 7:21 KJV ). James reinforces this: "Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves" (James 1:22 KJV).

Many believers today are entangled in endless theological controversies that rarely produce spiritual fruit. Instead of pursuing love and unity, they spend countless hours debating peripheral issues, creating divisions within the Body of Christ. This often leads to spiritual pride – where one's theological knowledge becomes a source of superiority rather than humility.

Perhaps most troubling is the tendency to criticise other believers rather than edify the Church. Social media platforms are filled with Christians railing against particular churches or leaders, often with little grace or constructive intent, neglecting Jesus' warning about seeing the speck in our brother's eye while missing the beam in our own.

The antidote to this confusion is returning to "the simplicity that is in Christ." Jesus simplified God's law into two commands: love God and love others (Matthew 22:37-39 KJV). These form the foundation of authentic Christian living.

True spiritual maturity isn't measured by theological knowledge but by the fruit of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance" (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). Jesus said we would know His disciples by their love for one another, not by their ability to win theological arguments.

To avoid this path to confusion, we must:

Prioritise obedience over mere knowledge

Cultivate humility in our learning

Focus on the essentials of faith

Let love guide our interactions

Seek to build up, not tear down

The path to confusion is paved with knowledge without obedience, criticism without love, and complexity without simplicity. As we pursue deeper knowledge of God's Word, let's ensure it leads to greater obedience, more fervent love, and the simplicity found in Christ.

For "though I understand all mysteries and all knowledge... and have not charity, I am nothing" (1 Corinthians 13:2 KJV).

With Christ's love,

Dave & Elaine
