Week 47

Week 47

Your Weekly Round-up Sunday!

This week brings a powerful collection of biblical teachings designed to strengthen your faith and equip you for the spiritual battles we face in this critical hour. We begin with an exploration of Participating in God's Work of Spiritual Nourishment, examining the sacred privilege and responsibility of teaching God's Word—a foundational calling that feeds souls with eternal truth. From there, we journey through vital messages about standing for biblical truth in our digital age, discerning false doctrine, and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Throughout the week, you'll find practical teaching, prophetic insight, and encouraging reminders that whilst the battle is real, the victory is already won in Christ. Our Monday through Friday content tackles the pressing issues facing believers today—from freedom of speech under threat to the deception masquerading as divine truth—all anchored firmly in Scripture.

We close the week with Feed Your Own Faith First!—a crucial reminder that before we can pour into others, we must ensure our own spiritual wellbeing is firmly established. This teaching perfectly complements our NEWS section highlighting Project 365, our specially designed 40-day reading plan through the New Testament. Now is the perfect time to establish that daily rhythm of Scripture engagement that will transform your walk with Christ from the inside out.

Plus, don't miss our expanding YouTube content and multiple teaching series designed to accompany you throughout your week. Whether you're seeking morning inspiration, thought-provoking reflections, or in-depth biblical teaching, we've curated resources to meet you where you are and take you deeper in your faith journey.

Participating in God's Work of Spiritual Nourishment

Feeding souls with eternal truth, strengthening faith through God's unchanging Word.

In the tapestry of Christian service, few callings carry greater weight than the privilege of teaching God's Word. Whether you stand behind a pulpit addressing hundreds, gather children in a Sunday school classroom, lead intimate discussions in a small group, or simply share Scripture with a friend over coffee—you are engaging in something profoundly significant. You are participating in God's work of spiritual nourishment, feeding faith and strengthening souls for the battles they face in this fallen world.

Teaching God's Word transcends mere intellectual exercise or religious obligation. It is a sacred privilege and an awesome responsibility entrusted to those who handle the bread of life. We are feeding souls with sustenance that will carry believers through trials, temptations, and tribulations that inevitably come. The prophet Isaiah captured this eternal truth beautifully when he proclaimed: "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it" (Isaiah 55:11, KJV).

This promise reminds us that God's Word possesses inherent power. It accomplishes divine purposes beyond our comprehension. When we faithfully teach Scripture, we release life-giving truth into spiritually hungry hearts. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4, KJV). Just as physical bodies require daily nourishment, spiritual vitality depends upon consistent intake of God's Word.

The apostle Peter exhorted believers: "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby" (1 Peter 2:2, KJV). This imagery beautifully illustrates our role as spiritual nourishment providers. Babies instinctively cry for milk because their very survival depends upon it. Similarly, believers must hunger for God's Word to maintain spiritual health and growth. Those who teach Scripture facilitate this essential feeding process.

Yet before we can effectively nourish others, we must first feed ourselves. "Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee" (1 Timothy 4:16, KJV). Personal spiritual vitality precedes public ministry effectiveness. We cannot give what we do not possess. Through consistent Bible reading, meditation, and prayer, we fill our own spiritual reservoirs, enabling us to pour into others from a place of abundance rather than emptiness.

The writer of Hebrews challenges us: "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat" (Hebrews 5:12, KJV). Spiritual maturity brings responsibility to feed others. As we grow in faith, we naturally transition from being exclusively receivers to becoming givers of spiritual nourishment.

This sacred work of teaching Scripture carries eternal consequences. Every time we open God's Word with others, we participate in the transformation of souls and the building of Christ's kingdom. Let us embrace this privilege with reverence, faithfully proclaiming truth with boldness and clarity, knowing that God's Word never returns void but always accomplishes His purposes…

Battle for Truth: Our Freedom to Speak is at Stake!

In a world that increasingly rejects biblical truth, will you stand firm and speak boldly for Christ—no matter the cost?

A Message of Hope & Action

In an age where absolute truth is dismissed as intolerance and biblical standards are reinterpreted to suit personal preferences, Christians face an unprecedented assault on their freedom to speak God's Word. Street preachers are arrested for quoting Scripture, believers lose employment for expressing biblical views, and social media platforms censor Christian content whilst promoting anti-biblical messages. This isn't accidental—it's a strategic effort to silence the truth that sets people free. Yet we must recognise this as a spiritual battle, not merely a cultural one, and respond with the weapons God has provided: prayer, Scripture, love, and unwavering faith. We're called to stand firm, prepared to defend our faith with both conviction and compassion, even when it costs us reputation, relationships, or freedom. The stakes are eternal—our courage to speak may be the very channel God uses to bring salvation to the lost. As the early apostles declared when commanded to stop speaking about Jesus, "We ought to obey God rather than men." This is not a time for fear or retreat, but for bold proclamation of truth. Christ has already overcome the world, and we fight from a position of victory. The battle is the Lord's, and the victory is certain…

The Silent Truth: Raising Our Voices Amidst False Doctrine!

Standing firm on biblical truth in a world of compromise—because silence is not an option when God's Word is at stake.

The Call to Stand Firm

In an age where false doctrine flourishes and biblical truth is increasingly marginalised, many genuine believers find themselves struggling to make their voices heard above the clamour of spiritual compromise. This teaching explores the sobering reality that carnal Christianity has created a landscape where sound doctrine is often drowned out by messages designed to tickle itching ears rather than transform hearts. Drawing from powerful scriptures like 2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV and Isaiah 58:1 KJV, we examine how those who stand firmly for biblical truth frequently face opposition, isolation, and accusations of being divisive or unloving. Yet despite these challenges, God's Word provides a clear mandate: believers must speak truth with courageous boldness, grounded deeply in Scripture and motivated by genuine love for souls. This message offers practical biblical strategies for standing firm in an age of compromise, reminding us that whilst truth-tellers may face temporary silence, God's Word stands forever. The church desperately needs watchmen who will cry aloud and spare not, awakening the sleeping, warning the wayward, and strengthening the faithful. For those prepared to pay the cost, this teaching provides both encouragement and equipping to fulfil that vital prophetic role in our generation…

Being Disrupters: Standing for Truth in a Digital Age!

Standing firm in God's truth in an age of digital deception!

Boldly Defending Biblical Truth in a World of Digital Deception!

In "Being Disrupters: Standing for Truth in a Digital Age," we explore the critical need for Christians to defend biblical truth in our increasingly complex online world. Drawing from scriptural examples like Elijah confronting the prophets of Baal, this teaching examines how false doctrines spread with unprecedented speed through digital platforms. We provide biblical guidance for recognising false teachings—from prosperity gospel to moral relativism—and offer practical ways to stand firm with both conviction and compassion. While acknowledging the potential costs of defending truth, this message ultimately emphasises that our disruption aims not merely at opposition but at restoration, guiding the church back to solid biblical foundations in a world of shifting opinions and trendy theologies…

When Deception Masquerades as Divine Truth!

Discerning truth from deception in an age of spiritual counterfeits

The Scriptural Foundation for Discernment

In an age of spiritual deception, believers must discern truth from cunningly disguised falsehood. False doctrine arrives dressed in religious garments, mixing Scripture with poison to make lies palatable. Those ensnared genuinely believe they're serving God, making this deception particularly dangerous.

Scripture alone—not experience or feelings—must be our foundation. The enemy produces counterfeit signs and wonders to keep believers bound in error. The tragedy is the spiritual blindness it produces: those trapped cannot see their condition, walking in darkness whilst convinced they walk in light.

False doctrine persists because it appeals to human desires rather than calling for surrender to God's will. Our response must be threefold: know God's Word deeply, pray fervently for discernment, and speak truth in love even when rejected.

Whilst false doctrine can discourage us, God is sovereign and His truth will ultimately prevail. We must remain faithful witnesses, trusting the Holy Spirit to convict and convert. The battle is real and ongoing, but truth has already won through Christ's victory on the cross…

The Unseen Battle: The Role of the Holy Spirit!

Empowered by the Spirit, transformed by His presence, victorious in the unseen battle…

The Unseen Battle!

The Christian life is marked by an unseen spiritual battle, yet believers are far from defenceless. The Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus as our Comforter and Helper, is not merely a theological concept but the very presence of God dwelling within us. But stands alongside us in every challenge, convicting us of sin without condemnation, assuring us of our salvation, and interceding when we lack words to pray. Through this power, we receive spiritual gifts to serve the body of Christ and cultivate supernatural fruit—love, joy, peace, and patience—that flows not from human effort but from abiding in Christ. The Spirit guides us into all truth through Scripture, circumstances, and inner peace, illuminating God's Word so it becomes living and active in our lives. Victory over the flesh comes not through striving but through continuous surrender. As we daily yield to the Holy Spirit's filling, we experience the transformative power that enables us to walk triumphantly in this glorious Christian life, empowered by the Spirit and victorious in the battle that rages unseen around us…

📖 Engaging with Scripture: A Personal Journey

Strengthening your faith through daily encounters with God's Word

If you've been following our recent teachings, you'll have noticed a consistent theme emerging: the vital importance of you, as a Spirit-filled believer, engaging with God's Word on a personal level. From our discussions on feeding your own faith first to exploring the role of the Holy Spirit in our daily walk, we've emphasised time and again that genuine spiritual vitality flows from intimate, personal encounters with Scripture.

This is the perfect time to remind you of our Project 365 reading plan, which you can find in the drop-down menu at the top of our website. We want to encourage you to make Scripture engagement a daily priority in your Christian walk.

What is Project 365?

Project 365 is our specially designed reading plan that will guide you through the New Testament—excluding Revelation—over the course of 40 days. This isn't just another reading schedule; it's a carefully crafted journey designed to help you develop a consistent, meaningful relationship with God's Word.

Why This Matters Now

In an age of spiritual deception and digital distraction, establishing a firm foundation in Scripture isn't optional—it's essential. As we've explored in recent teachings, you cannot pour from an empty cup, and you cannot stand firm in truth if you're not regularly nourishing your own faith through God's Word.

The apostle Paul reminded Timothy to "give attendance to reading" (1 Timothy 4:13 KJV), and this instruction remains just as relevant for believers today. Daily engagement with Scripture transforms us from the inside out, renewing our minds and strengthening our spirits for the battles we face.

The Heart Behind Project 365

We've designed this reading plan with intentionality and purpose. Visit the description on our website to read more about the heart behind Project 365 and why we believe this systematic approach to Scripture will benefit your spiritual growth. This isn't about legalistic obligation; it's about creating a sustainable rhythm of feeding your faith that will overflow into every area of your life.

Getting Started

Simply visit our website at back-to-basics-christian-living.ghost.io and look for the drop-down menu at the top of the page. There you'll find Project 365 along with all the resources you need to begin your journey through the New Testament.

Remember, the goal isn't merely to tick off daily readings but to truly encounter God through His Word. Approach each day's reading with expectation, asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate the text and speak to your heart. Allow Scripture to examine you, challenge you, and transform you.

As we've been teaching, before you can effectively minister to others, you must first ensure your own spiritual well-being is firmly established. Project 365 is designed to help you do exactly that—building a solid foundation of biblical knowledge and personal spiritual nourishment that will sustain you throughout your Christian walk.

Join us in making daily Scripture engagement a non-negotiable part of your spiritual life. Visit our website today and begin your Project 365 journey!

In Christ,

Dave & Elaine

Feed Your Own Faith First!

Nourishing your soul to overflow into others…

In our eagerness to serve God and minister to others, we can sometimes forget a fundamental truth: we cannot pour from an empty cup. Before we can effectively nourish the faith of others, we must first ensure that our own spiritual well-being is firmly established. This principle of personal spiritual maintenance isn't selfishness—it's biblical wisdom.

The apostle Paul instructed Timothy, "Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine" (1 Timothy 4:13 KJV). This wasn't merely about public ministry; Paul was emphasising the importance of Timothy's own continuous engagement with Scripture. Later in the same chapter, Paul urged, "Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee" (1 Timothy 4:16 KJV). Notice the order: first yourself, then those who hear you.

Jesus himself modelled this principle throughout His earthly ministry. Despite the pressing needs of the crowds, He regularly withdrew to solitary places to pray and commune with the Father (Luke 5:16 KJV). If the Son of God needed this regular spiritual nourishment, how much more do we?

The psalmist beautifully captures the essence of personal spiritual feeding: "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night" (Psalm 1:1-2 KJV). This daily meditation and delight in God's Word is the foundation upon which effective ministry is built.

Peter reminds us, "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby" (1 Peter 2:2 KJV). This desire for God's Word shouldn't diminish as we mature in faith; rather, it should deepen. We must consistently feed ourselves on Scripture through reading, meditation, and prayer. Only when we are personally nourished can we authentically share what we've received.

Consider the imagery Jesus used: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing" (John 15:5 KJV). Abiding—remaining connected and drawing sustenance—comes before fruit-bearing. We cannot produce spiritual fruit for others if we're not first drawing life from Christ ourselves.

Paul's testimony demonstrates this beautifully: "For I received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you" (1 Corinthians 11:23 KJV). He first received from God before delivering to others. This pattern remains essential for effective Christian living and ministry today.

Therefore, establish a consistent rhythm of feeding your own faith. Read Scripture daily, not merely to find sermon material or teaching points, but to personally encounter God. Meditate on His Word, allowing it to transform your own heart. Pray earnestly, developing your personal relationship with Christ. From this place of spiritual vitality and genuine nourishment, you'll naturally overflow to others with authenticity and power.

Remember: you cannot give what you haven't first received...

With Christ's love,

Dave & Elaine
