Building Your Faith on Biblical Foundations! Discover core Christian principles and deepen your relationship with Christ through biblical teaching and practical application…

From Gratitude to Action—Living Beyond the Cross!

The cross of Jesus Christ stands as the eternal monument to God's love and the unshakeable foundation of our faith. It is the place where justice and mercy embraced, where the debt of sin was paid in full, and where the door to eternal life was thrown open for all who would believe. We must never diminish the significance of Calvary or cease to marvel at the price paid for our redemption. As Paul declared, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8, KJV).

However, the Christian life is not meant to be an endless loop of emotional encounters with our initial salvation experience. God's love, demonstrated perfectly at the cross, is not a sentimental feeling requiring constant emotional validation—it is agape love, a covenant commitment expressed through sacrificial action and faithful obedience. This same love now calls us forward into the fullness of our purpose in Christ.

The modern church's tendency to remain perpetually at the cross, seeking repeated emotional highs rather than progressing into mature discipleship and active service, has resulted in widespread spiritual stagnation. Believers have become consumers rather than contributors, spectators rather than participants in the great work of the kingdom. Yet Scripture is clear: "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10, KJV).

We honour the cross not by endlessly gazing upon it to the exclusion of obedience, but by building upon its foundation. We demonstrate our gratitude for salvation not merely through repeated emotional responses, but through transformed lives that bear fruit for God's glory. As James reminds us, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone" (James 2:17, KJV).

The writer of Hebrews urges us: "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God" (Hebrews 6:1, KJV). This is not a call to forget the cross, but to build upon it—to move from spiritual infancy into maturity, from constant introspection into active mission, from perpetual self-focus into selfless service.

Like Paul, we must press forward: "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:13-14, KJV). The cross is our entrance, not our dwelling place. Salvation is our beginning, not our entirety.

Let us therefore be eternally grateful for what Christ accomplished at Calvary. Let us regularly remember His sacrifice through communion as He commanded. Let us never cease to marvel at the grace that rescued us from darkness. But let us also arise from our place of comfortable meditation and step forward into the challenging, rewarding work of Kingdom service.

The world is waiting for a church that not only celebrates its salvation but demonstrates it through transformed lives, sacrificial love, and powerful witness. The Great Commission remains unfulfilled whilst believers remain perpetually at the cross. The fields are white unto harvest whilst labourers remain in the safety of familiar emotional territory.

Be thankful—deeply, eternally thankful—for the cross. But then, empowered by the Holy Spirit, equipped with spiritual gifts, and compelled by divine love, move forward in faith. Build upon the foundation. Fulfil your calling. Walk in the good works prepared for you. For in doing so, you truly honour the One who gave everything that you might not only be saved, but that you might live abundantly and purposefully for His glory.

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58, KJV).

The Gatekeepers!

Understanding Their Role in Biblical Times & Today!

The Guardians of God's Sanctuary

We explore the biblical role of gatekeepers and applies their principles to Christian living today. Drawing from Old Testament examples, it shows how gatekeepers protected the temple's sanctity and controlled access to holy spaces. Today, believers must similarly guard their hearts, monitor influences, and protect their testimonies. Church leaders, discernment ministries, and parents all serve gatekeeping functions. The teaching balances the need for vigilance with warnings against legalism, encouraging wise discernment rather than rigid exclusion. Christ remains the ultimate gatekeeper, through whom we find both protection and access to God's presence…

Fighting The Storm!

Standing Firm When Life's Tempests Rage…

The Nature of Life's Storms

Life throws unexpected storms our way—waves of difficulty, winds of opposition, and floods of discouragement that threaten to overwhelm us. But Scripture reveals a powerful truth: God doesn't waste our storms. Through biblical accounts of disciples facing fierce tempests and Paul weathering fourteen days of darkness at sea, we discover that our trials aren't meant to destroy us but to reveal the authenticity of our faith and showcase Christ's sovereignty. When storms rage in our lives—whether through cultural hostility, personal struggles, or spiritual attacks—we're reminded that Jesus is present in every tempest, walking through the fire with us. These difficulties serve divine purposes within God's sovereign plan, refining our faith like gold in fire and producing spiritual strength that comfort never could. The same Christ who commanded the winds and waves two thousand years ago stands with you in your storm today, speaking words of courage: "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid." Your storm isn't the end of your story—it's a chapter in your testimony, demonstrating to a watching world that the One who calms the storm is already in the boat with you. Stand firm, for your struggle has meaning and your trial has purpose in God's redemptive plan…

The Unknown Road!

Trusting God When the Path Ahead Is Unclear…

Trusting the Guide, Not the Map

Life rarely provides us with detailed roadmaps. We find ourselves standing at crossroads, peering into fog-shrouded paths, unsure of what lies ahead. Yet throughout Scripture, we discover a profound truth: God specialises in leading His people down unknown roads. From Abraham's call to leave everything familiar behind, to the Israelites facing an impossible sea with enemies closing in, to Paul moving forwards despite knowing afflictions awaited him, the pattern is clear—faith doesn't require knowing the destination, only trusting the Guide.

The unknown road isn't divine cruelty; it's divine wisdom. When we cannot see the entire journey, we're forced to depend not on our own understanding but on God's faithfulness. His Word serves as a lamp to our feet, illuminating not miles ahead but the immediate step before us—enough light for today's decision, today's challenge, today's calling. This progressive revelation strips away our illusions of self-sufficiency and reminds us that we're designed for sacred dependence on the One who has already walked every path before us.

As you face whatever uncertain journey lies ahead, remember that the road may be unfamiliar, but your Companion is not. God promises His presence accompanies every uncertain step, transforming what seems like abandonment into opportunity for deeper faith. Past faithfulness becomes the foundation for present trust, and the unknown road becomes less something to fear and more an invitation to discover that God is more faithful than you imagined, more present than you realised, and more capable than you believed. The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord—trust Him with yours…

Silencing the Noise!

Returning to the Simplicity of Christ in a World of Intellectual Debate!

The Power of God's Word in a Noisy World!

In our modern age of endless Christian content—podcasts, blogs, books, and social media—we face a crucial question: Have we lost sight of the beautiful simplicity that Christ offers? This teaching explores how the cacophony of voices in today's Christian landscape can actually distract us from the straightforward truth of Scripture. Drawing on Paul's warning to the Corinthians about minds being corrupted from "the simplicity that is in Christ," we examine how intellectual debates and the pursuit of novelty can overshadow the practical application of faith. The message challenges us to return to Scripture itself rather than endless commentaries about Scripture, to test all teaching against God's Word like the noble Bereans, and to remember that the Christian life isn't primarily an intellectual exercise but a living relationship with Christ. Jesus summarised the entire law with profound simplicity: love God with all your heart and love your neighbour as yourself. These aren't complex theological concepts, yet living them out requires a lifetime of devotion. This teaching calls us to rediscover the joy and liberation found in silencing external noise and walking in simple obedience to our Lord, trusting in the sufficiency of God's Word alone for life and godliness…

The Unseen Battle: Spiritual Warfare in Relationships!

Where faith meets everyday life—and spiritual battles are won through Christ's power in our relationships…

Understanding the Battlefield of Human Connection

Relationships are battlegrounds where spiritual forces seek to bring division and destruction, yet they are also God's precious gifts meant to reflect His glory. When marriages face unexplained turmoil, families experience persistent conflict, or church communities struggle with division, we must recognise that we are not merely wrestling against human disagreement but against spiritual principalities and powers. The enemy targets marriages because they represent Christ's relationship with the Church, attacks families because children are precious to God, and seeks to destroy church unity because a unified body of believers powerfully advances God's kingdom. However, believers are not defenceless in this unseen battle. Through consistent prayer together, swift forgiveness, maintaining Christ-like character, and building relationships on the solid foundation of Scripture, we create fortresses against enemy infiltration. The key to victory lies in recognising the true nature of the conflict, refusing to give the devil a foothold through unforgiveness or compromise, and standing firm in the truth that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. When we clothe ourselves with the whole armour of God and centre our relationships on Christ, characterised by love, truth, and grace, we not only defend against spiritual attacks but transform our relationships into powerful testimonies of God's redemptive power and eternal purposes…

Communication Dissolves Any Future Problems!

In both our spiritual lives and earthly relationships, communication stands as the cornerstone of peace, understanding, and harmony. The principle that communication dissolves future problems is not merely practical wisdom—it is deeply rooted in Scripture and reflects God's own nature as One who communicates with His creation.

The Foundation of Divine Communication

From the very beginning, God established communication as essential to relationship. "And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?" (Genesis 3:9, KJV). Even when Adam had sinned, God initiated conversation, demonstrating that open communication provides the pathway to restoration rather than continued separation.

Throughout Scripture, we see that God's people thrive when communication flows freely. "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow" (Isaiah 1:18, KJV). The Lord invites dialogue, showing that honest communication—even about our failures—opens the door to transformation and reconciliation.

Preventing Problems Through Honest Speech

The Book of Proverbs repeatedly emphasises communication's power to prevent conflict. "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger" (Proverbs 15:1, KJV). When we communicate with gentleness and wisdom, we defuse potential conflicts before they escalate into serious problems.

Similarly, Scripture warns against the dangers of withheld communication: "He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool" (Proverbs 10:18, KJV). Suppressed feelings and unspoken concerns fester into bitterness, whilst honest, loving communication brings issues into the light where they can be addressed and resolved.

The New Testament Pattern

Jesus established clear protocols for communication within the Body of Christ. "Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother" (Matthew 18:15, KJV). Direct, private communication is God's first step in resolving disputes, preventing minor misunderstandings from becoming major divisions.

The Apostle Paul reinforced this principle: "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another" (Ephesians 4:25, KJV). Truthful communication strengthens the bonds between believers and prevents the enemy from exploiting unspoken grievances.

Communication as Spiritual Warfare

Satan thrives in silence and misunderstanding. He is "a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44, KJV), and he works to prevent honest communication that would expose his deceptions. When we communicate openly and truthfully, we dismantle strongholds of suspicion, fear, and division before they can take root.

James reminds us: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed" (James 5:16, KJV). Transparent communication within the believing community brings healing and prevents hidden sins from growing into destructive patterns.

Practical Application

Let us therefore commit to speaking truth in love, addressing concerns promptly, and maintaining open channels of communication in all our relationships. "Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man" (Colossians 4:6, KJV). When we communicate with wisdom, grace, and timeliness, we prevent countless future problems and build relationships that glorify God and strengthen His kingdom…

With Christ's love,

Dave & Elaine
