Week 7

Week 7

Your Weekly Round-up Sunday!

Welcome to Week 7 of your Round-up Sunday! This week brings a powerful blend of foundational teaching, practical discipleship, and urgent evangelistic truth designed to equip you for victorious Christian living in these last days.

đź“– Featured Two-Part Teaching: Spiritual Wickedness in High Places

This week's newsletter opens with an essential two-part exploration into the spiritual realities governing our world. Part One exposes Satan's authority, deception, and influence over worldly systems—revealing the invisible warfare behind visible conflicts as warned in Ephesians 6:12 KJV. We examine how the devil operates as "the god of this world," wielding temporary dominion through sophisticated deception, spiritual blindness, and counterfeit religion, all designed to steal worship from the one true God.

But we don't stop with the sobering reality of darkness! Part Two proclaims the glorious Gospel solution: Christ the Light—Deliverance from Darkness. Jesus came specifically to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8 KJV), transferring believers from Satan's kingdom into God's marvellous light through His victorious death and resurrection. This isn't partial deliverance—it's complete liberation for all who trust in Christ.

Part One: Spiritual Wickedness in High Places – Understanding Satan's Authority & Deception

The Bible reveals a sobering truth about the spiritual realm that governs much of what we see in our world today. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) warns us: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." This passage unveils the reality that behind the visible conflicts and corruptions of our world lies an invisible warfare orchestrated by Satan and his demonic forces. These aren't mere symbols or metaphors—they're real spiritual entities wielding influence over nations, governments, media, education, and even religious institutions.

Satan, whom Scripture calls "the god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV), exercises a temporary dominion over the systems of this fallen world. Jesus Himself acknowledged Satan's authority when the devil offered Him all the kingdoms of the world during His temptation (Luke 4:5-6 KJV). This wasn't an empty offer—Satan genuinely possesses delegated authority over worldly kingdoms until Christ's ultimate return. His primary method of operation is deception, as Jesus identified him: "He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44 KJV).

The devil's methods are sophisticated and multifaceted. He works through spiritual blindness, preventing unbelievers from seeing the light of the Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV). He sows tares amongst the wheat, infiltrating churches with false doctrine and counterfeit believers (Matthew 13:38-39 KJV). He transforms himself into an angel of light, making evil appear good and darkness appear as illumination (2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV). Through these deceptions, he leads multitudes into spiritual darkness—not always through obvious evil, but often through subtle compromises, moral relativism, and distortions of truth.

Satan's ultimate goal is worship. Throughout history, he has established counterfeit religions, occultic practices, and idolatrous systems designed to steal worship from the one true God. Whether through ancient pagan religions or modern secular humanism that exalts man as his own god, the underlying principle remains constant—diverting worship away from the Creator towards the creature. Revelation 13:4 (KJV) prophesies a time when deceived humanity will cry: "Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" This represents the culmination of Satan's ambition: receiving worship that belongs to God alone.

The dangers of Satan's influence cannot be overstated. Those ensnared by his deceptions walk in spiritual death (Ephesians 2:1-2 KJV), their understanding darkened and separated from the life of God (Ephesians 4:18 KJV). They become slaves to sin (John 8:34 KJV), children of disobedience under the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2 KJV). The eternal consequence is devastating: "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15 KJV). Satan's influence leads not merely to temporal suffering but to eternal separation from God—the ultimate tragedy of deception…

The Engine of Church Growth!

Multiplying disciples, not just gathering crowds—that's the heartbeat of true church growth…

The Multiplication Principle in Action

True church growth isn't measured by packed auditoriums or impressive programmes, but by the multiplication of disciples who make disciples. Paul's instruction to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2 KJV reveals a four-generation discipleship chain that powered the early church's exponential expansion—Paul discipled Timothy, who discipled faithful men, who then taught others. Jesus modelled this principle from the beginning by investing deeply in twelve disciples rather than trying to reach the masses alone, demonstrating divine wisdom over human efficiency. The key to this multiplication isn't talent or charisma, but faithfulness and the ability to teach others, which requires intentionality, training, and investment. Many churches today have abandoned this multiplication model for an addition model, focusing on attracting crowds to hear one gifted speaker rather than equipping every believer to disciple others, producing consumers instead of disciples. To repair this broken engine, we must return to Jesus' model of intensive investment in a few, shift from measuring success by attendance to measuring it by multiplication, and embrace Paul's instruction to identify faithful people, invest deeply in them, equip them to teach, and release them to repeat the process. When the engine works properly, as seen in Acts, persecution couldn't stop the church because every believer was equipped to make disciples, fulfilling Jesus' promise that His followers would do greater works through the multiplication of faithful disciples throughout the world…

Community Outreach & Living…

Nurturing Faith through Biblical Fellowship…

Lessons from the Early Church!

This teaching explores the vibrant community life of the early church as described in Acts 2:42-47 KJV, offering a timeless model for believers today. The first Christians devoted themselves to four foundational practices: the apostles' doctrine, fellowship, breaking bread together, and prayer. Their community was marked by extraordinary generosity, as they voluntarily shared possessions and resources to meet one another's needs, extending care to widows, orphans, and the poor. Joy characterized their worship, which wasn't confined to formal gatherings but overflowed into everyday life through the power of the Holy Spirit. This authentic community became a powerful evangelistic witness, and the Lord added daily to their numbers as people were drawn to their transformed lives and genuine love for one another. While our cultural context differs from first-century Jerusalem, the call remains the same: to move beyond superficial Sunday Christianity into genuine relationships where we bear one another's burdens, open our homes, and share our lives. In a world increasingly marked by isolation and superficial connections, authentic Christian community offers a compelling alternative and remains essential to God's design for His church…

Winning Souls & the Fear of Offending!

Bold faith over popular opinion—souls matter more than comfort…

The Gospel Confronts Sin & Calls for Repentance…

In a culture obsessed with avoiding offence, many Christians find themselves paralysed when it comes to sharing the Gospel. But what matters more—keeping people comfortable or winning souls for eternity? This powerful teaching explores the uncomfortable truth that the Gospel itself is inherently offensive to the natural man, yet our calling remains clear: proclaim Christ boldly whilst speaking truth in love. Drawing from Scripture, we examine the cost of silence, the biblical examples of faithful witnesses who refused to compromise, and how to balance boldness with compassion. The fields are ripe for harvest and time is running out. Discover why temporary offence is worth enduring for eternal salvation, and why we must choose faithfulness to God over the approval of men. Because at the end of the day, souls matter more than comfort, and the people we reach today will thank us for all eternity…

Why Some Don't Believe?

Understanding spiritual blindness & the heart's resistance to God's truth…

1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV: "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

When believers share the Gospel with unbelievers and witness their disbelief, the reason isn't found in the quality of presentation or intellectual capacity, but in spiritual condition. The natural man cannot receive spiritual truth because he lacks the spiritual capacity to comprehend it, making the things of God seem foolish to him. Every person is spiritually dead before regeneration, separated from God and ruled by the flesh until born again by the Holy Spirit. This unbelief is primarily a heart problem rather than an evidence problem, as people reject the Gospel not because they lack proof but because accepting it requires acknowledging sin and submitting to God's authority. Beyond this internal resistance, Satan actively works to blind minds and prevent people from seeing the light of the Gospel by making Christianity seem irrelevant, outdated, or foolish. Since only the Holy Spirit can grant spiritual understanding and salvation is entirely a work of God's grace, no amount of human reasoning or apologetics can open blind eyes. This truth humbles believers, reminding them that they didn't believe because they were smarter or more open-minded but because God sovereignly opened their eyes and granted them faith. Understanding that unbelievers are spiritually dead and blind should move Christians to compassion, intercession, and prayer-saturated evangelism, trusting that they're responsible to faithfully proclaim truth in love whilst the Holy Spirit does the converting. The glorious hope is that God specializes in transformation, and the same God who opened your eyes can open anyone's eyes no matter how hardened they may seem, so believers must never give up on the lost but continue to pray and witness, trusting God's promise that He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance…

Back to Basics: Christian Living: Completing the Journey - Living as True Disciples

From Believers to Disciples – Walking in Complete Obedience to Christ…

The Call to Complete Discipleship

In this profound exploration of Christian discipleship, we journey beyond mere belief into the transformative reality of becoming true followers of Christ. Discipleship isn't simply about intellectual assent to doctrine—it's a complete surrender of life, priorities, and ambitions to the Lordship of Jesus. Just as Jesus called His first disciples to leave their nets and follow Him, He calls us today to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and place Him above every earthly relationship and attachment. This teaching unpacks the essential foundations of abiding in Christ through prayer, Scripture meditation, and the Holy Spirit's empowering presence, without which we can accomplish nothing of eternal value. We examine the distinguishing marks of genuine disciples—sacrificial love for God and others, joyful obedience to Christ's commands, and fruit that remains for eternity. The journey of transformation involves intentionally putting off our old nature, renewing our minds according to God's truth, and walking in the Spirit through vital spiritual disciplines. Yet discipleship was never meant to be a solitary pursuit; it flourishes within the body of Christ, where believers encourage one another, bear burdens together, and use their spiritual gifts to serve. Every disciple is commissioned to make disciples, fulfilling the Great Commission by evangelising, mentoring new believers, and teaching them to obey all that Christ commanded. Whilst the cost of following Jesus involves suffering and persecution, the rewards far outweigh any earthly sacrifice—intimate fellowship with Christ, fruitful ministry, and eternal crowns await those who persevere. This is a marathon requiring endurance through trials, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, until we cross the finish line and hear our Master say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." If you're ready to move from casual Christianity to wholehearted discipleship, this teaching will challenge, inspire, and equip you to complete the journey and live as a true disciple of Jesus Christ…

Beyond the Numbers: Understanding the True Impact of Digital Ministry

Recent statistics for Back to Basics: Christian living reveal a modest but growing digital presence across multiple platforms. But do numbers truly capture the ministry's success, or do they tell a more nuanced story about modern digital outreach?

Are Numbers Important?

The answer depends entirely on how we measure success in digital ministry. If we're comparing against viral content creators or mega-churches with thousands of followers, these figures might seem modest. However, they reveal something potentially more significant: consistent, genuine engagement.

What the Statistics Really Tell Us

Global Reach: With 83,000 total YouTube views and consistent weekly engagement across platforms, Back to Basics: Christian living reaches individuals worldwide—something impossible before the digital age.

Multi-Platform Presence: Being active across six different platforms demonstrates adaptability and meets people where they are, whether that's TikTok's short-form content or YouTube's longer teachings. Instagram's 1,400 monthly views further extends our reach to visual content consumers.

Quality Over Quantity: The ratio of views to followers suggests that content is being shared beyond the immediate subscriber base. YouTube's 4,200 monthly views from 301 subscribers indicates each piece of content is reaching multiple viewers.

Steady Growth: TikTok's 1,100 weekly views represent consistent engagement, whilst the diverse content strategy—from morning devotionals to podcasts like "Blazing Apostles" and "Saturday Conversations"—caters to different learning styles and schedules.

A Different Measure of Success

Perhaps these statistics tell us that true digital ministry success isn't measured in viral moments or massive follower counts, but in faithful, consistent presentation of biblical truth to a global audience. Each view represents a potential life touched, a question answered, or a faith strengthened.

The question isn't whether 301 YouTube subscribers is "enough"—it's whether the content is faithfully teaching God's Word and meeting spiritual needs. By that measure, a ministry reaching thousands of monthly viewers across continents whilst maintaining biblical integrity tells a story of meaningful impact rather than mere popularity.

In the end, digital ministry statistics might be less about the size of the audience and more about the faithfulness of the message and the reach of the Gospel in an increasingly connected world…

Back to Basics: Christian Living - Your Faith Journey. We're excited to share insights and practical guidance to help strengthen your faith journey in 2025…

Part Two: Christ the Light – Deliverance from Darkness Through the Gospel

Yet amidst this sobering reality of spiritual warfare and Satanic influence, the Gospel shines forth as glorious good news. Jesus Christ came specifically to destroy the works of the devil: "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8 KJV). Through His incarnation, sinless life, substitutionary death, and victorious resurrection, Christ accomplished what we could never achieve—complete victory over Satan's dominion and the liberation of captives held in spiritual bondage.

Jesus identified Himself as "the light of the world" (John 8:12 KJV), declaring: "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." This isn't merely poetic language—it's a profound spiritual reality. Christ's light exposes the darkness of sin, reveals truth amidst deception, and illuminates the path to eternal life. When the Gospel penetrates a darkened heart, transformation occurs: "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" (1 Peter 2:9 KJV).

The Gospel's power to deliver from Satan's kingdom is absolute. Colossians 1:13 (KJV) proclaims: "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son." This deliverance isn't partial or temporary—it's a complete transfer from one spiritual kingdom to another. Those who trust in Christ are no longer under Satan's dominion; they've been adopted into God's family, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and guaranteed eternal inheritance. The enemy may still assault believers, but his ultimate claim is broken: "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony" (Revelation 12:11 KJV).

Walking in Christ's light requires ongoing dependence on Him and His Word. Jesus promised: "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32 KJV). Truth liberates; lies enslave. As believers abide in Scripture, pray without ceasing, and fellowship with other Christians, they remain protected from the devil's schemes. James 4:7 (KJV) provides the battle strategy: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

The contrast between Satan's darkness and Christ's light couldn't be starker. Where Satan brings deception, Christ brings truth. Where Satan enslaves, Christ liberates. Where Satan destroys, Christ redeems. Where Satan leads to death, Christ gives eternal life. John 10:10 (KJV) captures this perfectly: "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." This abundant life isn't found in worldly success, material wealth, or human achievement—it's found exclusively in relationship with Jesus Christ, who conquered sin, death, and Satan at Calvary. For those still walking in darkness under the devil's influence, the invitation remains open: "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow" (Isaiah 1:18 KJV). Christ alone is the way out of darkness and into eternal light…

With Christ's love,

Dave & Elaine
